I had a wonderful night last night...Seems little Maddy prefers to stay awake most of the night and sleep ALL day. She is a sweet little angel sleeping on my lap right now. Looking at her right now, you would never know about her secret plot to deprive her momma of any kind of cumulative sleep. She was awake from 1:00 am to 4:00 am. No lie. Not good times...
This was the first time she has really done that, so here's hoping it won't become a habit. Luckily, my darling husband awoke at 7am and kept watch over her while I slept a few whole hours in a row.

People say, "nap when she naps..." I just can't bring myself to do that. I have been home for 3 weeks now and ok, maybe the first 2 or 3 days I napped a bit during the day. But for some WEIRD reason I can't bring myself to do it now. I hate the thought of sleeping the day away. I want to savor it a bit. I want to savor her, even while she is sleeping peacefully. However, anyone who really knows me can tell you this is HIGHLY UNLIKE me. I am known around the universe as one who LOVES to sleep and one who would rarely, if ever willfully rise "early".

THEN, THEN, THEN....I read this this morning. Courtesy of a newsletter I subscribe to, something that went a little like this,

"...Your baby will probably stay on his or her own schedule for a while, so allow your baby to decide when he or she wants to eat and sleep...." (WHAT? Seriously? Well the baby does decide when she is to eat or sleep, in fact she decides when I am to eat or sleep! But thanks for the advise.)

"When he or she's upset, womb-like sounds will help calm him or her..." (What? nope)

"... Also try patting your baby gently on the back or bottom to the beat of your heart; these familiar rhythms are still fresh in his or her mind and will help to relax him or her..." (they neglect to mention that this is only effective during daylight hours)

Let Him dwell within me, ALL of my days. He is my and the only source of real JOY! The world is a liar. Only YOU can decide who you want to be, your identity is either in the world or in Jesus. If it's in Jesus then you are perfect because He is perfect. He atoned for all of our real imperfections. If sin leads to death, why do we chase it? Why do we chase the grave instead of His grace? Me too, it's a daily surrender of my desire for the world. Daily, hourly, minutely. The pull is intense and the struggle is real. Literally. No matter what happens to me, you know your mother's heart chases after Jesus Christ Himself. It is not the path of least resistance. On the contrary. I live my life for Him and through Him because I have already experienced the contrary. It was a state of darkness and death. Absence of light and of love. Of course I want to spare you the suffering of that course but sometimes we must walk through that mire to appreciate Him as he washes it off of us s...
